Rain Showers Jakarta, Pramono Claims It Is Result of Weather Modification

Rain fell over several areas of Jakarta on Wednesday (19/8) from midday into the afternoon. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung claimed the rain in the middle of the dry season was the result of a weather modification operation (OMC).

The Jakarta provincial government continues to carry out weather modification to trigger rain in the capital. According to him, the effort is undertaken whenever there are clouds with the potential to produce rain.

“I have said many times that the Jakarta provincial government, whenever there is a cloud, no matter how small, will turn it into artificial rain,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall.

Pramono said rain had fallen twice with a gap of about 30 minutes. However, he considered the rain not yet optimal because of limited cloud conditions.

“Indeed, it rained twice earlier. There was a break of about 30 minutes, then it rained again,” he said.

He said today’s rain was different from rain during the rainy season. Pramono said the rain was the result of weather modification.

“Although it is very obvious that this is not rain like during the rainy season. This is rain that has indeed been modified,” he said.

According to him, the rain at least made the air in Jakarta a little fresher. However, the results were not yet optimal because there were not many clouds available.

“So at the very least, this makes it a little fresher, although it is not yet optimal because there are no clouds. That is the problem,” he added.
