Ticket scalpers are now operating at railway stations and
reservation centers, as public demand is rising, particularly in
the days approaching Idul Fitri when ticket supplies are limited.

Meanwhile, the system applied by the state railway company
still enables widespread ticket scalping to take place. A variety
of methods already employed to eliminate the practice have
failed.

Boman, manager of the reservation center in Juanda, Jakarta,
has admitted that it is difficult to eradicate ticket touting.
The greater concern is that certain personnel of state railway
company PT Kereta Api (PT KAI) may be involved in boosting the
illegal sale of tickets.

It is perhaps necessary to seek a more sophisticated system to
put an end to this practice. However, this would be at very high
cost, while PT KAI is at present reportedly suffering
considerable losses.
