Railway looters arrested

TUBAN, East Java: Police here arrested seven suspects for looting railways, while four others are still at large.

"They were caught red-handed when tearing the railway apart in the Klakah village in Plumpung district," police chief Lt. Col. Zulfattah Sulaiman said, as reported Friday by Antara.

Those arrested, allegedly using hacksaws to break up the lines, were one resident of Sugio in Lamongan regency, five from Kedungpiring, also in Lamongan and one Tuban resident.

Police credited the arrests to information from locals. Similar thefts have also been reported in Jakarta.
