Rahayu Saraswati Speaks Out After Visiting IKN, Highlighting High Local Content Requirements and Delivering Key Message to Basuki
Jakarta, VIVA – The Deputy Chair of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, expressed her impression regarding the development progress of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) following a working visit to the area. During her first visit with Commission VII, Rahayu highlighted the high use of Domestic Component Level (TKDN) and delivered a significant message to the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, requesting that development should not focus solely on physical infrastructure.
The working visit took place on Friday, 10 July 2026, as part of the Commission VII agenda to directly observe the ongoing progress of the new capital’s construction in East Kalimantan.
According to Rahayu, the visit served as her first experience witnessing the development of IKN firsthand. She expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved, particularly regarding the utilisation of domestic products and the involvement of local communities in the construction process.
Appreciation for High TKDN Usage
During the visit, Rahayu conveyed her appreciation for the high level of domestic component usage in the construction of IKN. She noted that the implementation of TKDN is evident not only in the procurement of goods but also through the involvement of local communities in various construction activities.
“This visit to IKN is intended to monitor progress. We are very pleased to hear that the TKND is quite high, both in the procurement of goods and the involvement of local communities in the development of IKN,” said Rahayu.
She assessed that the implementation of TKDN is a crucial aspect as it can provide a positive impact on national industrial growth while creating economic opportunities for the communities surrounding the development area.
Furthermore, the involvement of local residents is considered a vital component to ensure that the development of IKN provides broader benefits, producing not just new infrastructure but also driving regional economic growth.
Requesting Continued Involvement of MSMEs and Small Industries
In the presence of the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, Rahayu also expressed her hope that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Small and Medium Industries (IKM) continue to be given space within the IKN development. She noted that MSMEs play a strategic role due to their large numbers and their ability to create economic added value for the surrounding population.
