The management of Ragunan Zoo estimates that the number of visitors coming during the Eid al-Fitr holiday break 2026/1447 Hijri will reach approximately 400,000 people.

“We have set a visitation target of 400,000 visitors this year, based on the assumption that the Eid al-Fitr holiday will last eight days, from 22 to 29 March 2026,” said Endah Rumiyati, Head of the Ragunan Zoo Management Unit, when contacted in Jakarta on Friday (13 March).

According to Endah, the target was established on the basis of an evaluation of visitation data from the previous year. During the 14-day Eid holiday period in 2025, visitor numbers reached 610,416 people, with an average of approximately 43,000 visitors per day.

She explained that zoo operations during the Eid period follow Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 63 of 2018. This regulation stipulates that the tourist area opens to visitors on the second day of Eid (H+1), whilst on the first day of Eid, the tourist attraction is closed to the public.

“Therefore, the Ragunan Zoo Management Unit formally declares its readiness in welcoming the surge of tourists during the Eid holiday 2026,” said Endah.

To welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the management has carried out several improvements in the zoo area. Aesthetic improvements have been made by introducing thematic decorations prepared specifically so that visitors experience a different atmosphere when visiting.

Through the official Instagram account @ragunanzoo, the management also announced that during Ramadan, Ragunan will remain open from Tuesday to Sunday from 07:00-15:00 Western Indonesia Time.

For reference, Ragunan Zoo is one of the popular family tourist destinations in South Jakarta. The zoo covers approximately 147 hectares and is home to more than 2,009 animals from various species. In addition, the area is also planted with more than 20,000 trees that make the zoo atmosphere feel lush.

To enjoy a visit to Ragunan, visitors only need to pay an affordable entrance fee. Current ticket prices start from IDR 4,000 for adult visitors and IDR 3,000 for children.

Tourist flow to Ragunan has already become visible since the first day of the long holiday and has maintained a stable trend until the weekend. According to management, a monorail has been selected for transport as it produces no emissions and minimises disturbance to animal habitats.
