Ragunan Zoo Predicts 40,000 Visitors for Islamic New Year

The management of Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta predicts visitor numbers will reach 40,000 during the Islamic New Year holiday, 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriah. “We are targeting 40,000 visitors to Ragunan Zoo by this afternoon,” said Head of Public Relations Wahyudi Bambang to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday. Bambang said the prediction is achievable thanks to fairly good weather. By midday, 25,675 visitors had entered the Ragunan Zoo area in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. Since Tuesday morning, Ragunan has been bustling with tourists from various regions. “Just this morning around 8.45 a.m. local time, 9,219 visitors had already arrived, consisting of 7,341 adults and 1,878 children. The surge in visitors continues into the afternoon,” he said. Wahyudi explained that the number of visitors by Tuesday at noon was recorded at 25,675 people, comprising 6,143 children and 19,532 adults. He added that vehicles used to visit the zoo included 47 buses, 1,800 cars, 3,421 motorcycles and 282 bicycles. “Regarding vehicle parking, it is currently sufficient within the zoo area. If a significant surge occurs later, we have prepared various alternatives. We are also coordinating with all relevant parties to ensure smooth traffic flow,” he said. Visitors are urged to comply with all applicable rules and to be more mindful of child safety, personal belongings and waste disposal.
