Ragunan Zoo Draws 17,917 Visitors During Jakarta's 499th Anniversary Free Entry

The Ragunan Zoo management in South Jakarta reported that 17,917 visitors flocked to the wildlife park on Monday, 22 June, to mark the 499th anniversary of DKI Jakarta. Head of Public Relations Wahyudi Bambang stated that daytime visits accounted for 16,948 people, while the special ‘Night Zoo’ programme attracted an additional 969 participants. “Public enthusiasm was very high, considering that Ragunan entrance tickets were free to welcome DKI’s anniversary,” Wahyudi said. The zoo waived entry fees and held prize quizzes to embody the spirit of Jakarta’s transformation into a modern, inclusive, and sustainable global city. The celebration carried the theme ‘Explore Ragunan, Know the Animals, Love Jakarta’. Under the direction of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the public can also enjoy free access to the zoo on 27 and 28 June 2026 as part of the extended anniversary festivities.
