Ragunan Offers Free Entry for Jakarta Anniversary, Prepares Prize Quizzes for Visitors
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is waiving entry fees for Ragunan Zoo on 22 June and 27-28 June 2026 in celebration of the 499th Anniversary of Jakarta City. The policy is part of a series of celebrations themed ‘Moving Towards a New Era of Jakarta’ being held at various locations across the capital. Ragunan Zoo Public Relations Head Wahyudi Bambang said the public can take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy educational tourism and become more familiar with the zoo’s animal collection without being charged an entry fee. In addition to providing free access for visitors, Ragunan Zoo has also prepared various interactive activities during the Jakarta Anniversary celebration period. One of these is a prize quiz game that visitors from all walks of life can participate in. The activities are designed not only as entertainment but also as a means of education for the community, especially families and the younger generation. Visitors will be invited to test their knowledge about animals, environmental conservation, and Jakarta’s history through the prepared quizzes. This year’s celebration at Ragunan carries the special theme ‘Explore Ragunan, Know the Animals, Love Jakarta’. The theme serves as an invitation for the public to become more acquainted with biodiversity while increasing awareness of environmental conservation efforts. ‘We want to invite the public to get to know the richness of Indonesia’s wildlife, foster concern for conservation, and together celebrate Jakarta’s journey towards a new, more advanced and sustainable era,’ he said in a statement on Saturday (13/6). Through the various educational and recreational activities prepared, visitors can explore the Ragunan area, get to know native and exotic animals, and participate in a range of interactive games arranged by the management. The momentum of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary is also expected to further strengthen Ragunan’s role as a premier educational tourism destination owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, serving not only as a recreational space but also as a conservation learning centre for the public. Ragunan Zoo invites the people of Jakarta and surrounding areas to take advantage of this opportunity and join in enlivening Jakarta’s 499th birthday celebration through the various activities prepared at the end of June.
