Ragunan Closes on Eid al-Fitr, Reopens Sunday 22 March

Taman Margasatwa Ragunan in South Jakarta will be temporarily closed on Eid al-Fitr Day, Saturday (21/3). The Ragunan Zoo will only reopen to the public on the second day of Eid. “I just received information from the Head of the Department who directly oversees it, so tomorrow it will indeed be closed, but the second day will open as usual,” said Pramono at Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, on Friday (20/3) night. Based on DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation No. 63 of 2018, tourist sites in Jakarta are closed on the first day of Eid and operate from 08:00 to 17:00 WIB on the second day. This regulation applies to locations such as Taman Margasatwa Ragunan, which closes on the first day and reopens on the second. On that occasion, Pramono also explained that economic transactions in Jakarta during the pre-Eid period have reached Rp21 trillion. The DKI Provincial Government targets this figure to increase to Rp23-24 trillion in the coming days. “Hopefully there are still 5 days left, we want to break the record, hopefully above Rp23-24 trillion,” he said. Assistant for Economy and Finance of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary, Suharini Eliawati, explained that the largest contributions come from the retail sector, hospitality, and shopping centres, including trading areas like Tanah Abang. According to her, transactions in Jakarta surpass those in other cities. “In Semarang alone, the transactions are at Rp8.46 [trillion?], then in Surabaya Rp6 billion something,” she said.
