Persib Bandung is intensifying its preparations for the 2026/2027 season with the target of competing not only in domestic competition but also at the Asian level. This move was marked by the recruitment of Indonesian national team diaspora player, Ragnar Oratmangoen, who has been contracted until 2029.

Ragnar’s arrival completes Persib’s series of recruitments after previously bringing in Sandy Walsh, Gabriel Mutombo, Luka Menalo, and Gakuto Notsuda. The squad strengthening is part of the club’s strategy to build a team with both depth and quality to face the packed competition schedule next season.

Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, Adhitia Putra Herawan, confirmed that Ragnar was recruited based on the team’s needs as mapped out by the coaching staff. “We welcome Ragnar as part of the big Persib family. The experience, quality, and character he possesses are expected to further strengthen the team in facing various challenges in the coming season,” said Adhitia.

“Over the next three years, we hope Ragnar can provide his best contribution and grow together with Persib in realising the targets set by the club. His presence is expected to add positive energy within the team and strengthen Persib’s competitiveness, both in domestic and Asian competitions,” he continued.

Ragnar becomes part of Persib’s effort to maintain its tradition of achievement after successfully winning the Liga 1 title for three consecutive seasons. Now, the Maung Bandung want to bring the same strength to the Asian stage. Ragnar is known as a versatile player in the forward line. He can be played as a winger on either side or as an attacking midfielder, giving the coach more options in formulating strategy.

Before joining Persib, Ragnar played for Belgian club Dender in the Belgian Pro League. His professional career was also forged at several Dutch clubs such as NEC Nijmegen, TOP Oss, SC Cambuur, Go Ahead Eagles, FC Groningen, and Fortuna Sittard. The experience of playing in European competitions is believed to enrich the quality of Persib’s game. In addition, Ragnar has also been part of the Indonesian national team since deciding to represent the Merah Putih.
