Rafsanjani visits Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Iranian President Ali Akhbar Hashemi Rafsanjani arrived here yesterday for a three-day official visit to boost bilateral diplomatic and economic ties, officials said.
Rafsanjani, accompanied by his wife Effat Hashemi Bahramani and a 100-member delegation, is on the last leg of his week-long three-nation tour which had taken him to Indonesia and Brunei.
They were received on arrival at the airport by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali.
Rafsanjani is scheduled to hold talks with Mahathir on the business opportunities in Tehran, especially in the field of oil and gas and food, agriculture and manufacturing, officials said.
Mahathir visited Iran in April last year on Rafsanjani's invitation.
