Raffi Ahmad Denies Involvement in Import Case Linked to Blueray Cargo
Raffi Ahmad, the Presidential Special Envoy for the Development of Youth and Arts, has provided a clarification regarding reports linking him to an alleged goods import case involving the consignment service company, Blueray Cargo.
Raffi emphasised that he has no relationship whatsoever with the import activities currently under scrutiny. He explained that his connection to the company’s name is limited to photographic documentation taken while he was in the United States in 2025.
“My name is being dragged into an unpleasant news report. In the past, I was often linked to money laundering and such, but I remained calm because nothing ever happened. Now, because I have been entrusted with the role of Presidential Special Envoy, I feel the need to rectify this falsehood,” Raffi said during a press conference in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6).
During the press conference, which was also attended by his legal counsel, Hotman Paris Hutapea, Raffi explained that his meeting with the Blueray party occurred by chance while visiting several Indonesian-owned businesses in New York following the Chicago Marathon in October 20seb5.
According to Raffi, he visited Awang Kitchen and the Indo Java shop as a form of support for Indonesian entrepreneurs operating in the United States. After his visit, several individuals from Blueray approached him to take photos together.
“While I was eating at Awang Kitchen and Indo Java, many Indonesians asked for photos. When I left the location, there was a shop called Blueray. They called me to take a photo,” said Raffi.
He also revealed that there was a brief conversation with the Blueray party regarding goods delivery services. However, Raffi maintained that he never used the service nor conducted any transactions.
“They briefly offered to send an iPhone for free. I said, no need. If it is free, I do not want it. After that, there were no orders and no further communication,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hotman Paris stated that no evidence was found to show that his client had ever placed orders or received shipments from Blueray Cargo. “He never ordered anything. This was merely celebrity pleasantries with people asking for a photo,” Hotman remarked.
Furthermore, Hotman suspects that Raffi’s name surfaced in the case due to internal company conversations that were revealed during the investigation process.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the name of Raffi Ahmad, or RA, was mentioned in trial facts related to the Blueray Cargo consignment company. The company is currently facing allegations of bribery related to import activities within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
Responding to this, Raffi reaffirmed that he never conducted transactions or received goods from the company. He also urged the public not to easily believe information that has not been verified for accuracy.
