Raffi Ahmad Denies Involvement in Customs Case, Admits Meeting with Blueray Cargo in the US

Presidential Special Envoy for Youth Generation Development and Arts Workers, Raffi Farid Ahmad, held a press conference on Thursday (11/6/2026) after his name was drawn into a corruption case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Raffi revealed how an initial meeting with the company Blueray Cargo led to his name being mentioned in the trial for alleged corruption within the Finance Ministry’s customs directorate. ‘At that time, it is true, I went abroad. I ran a marathon with Ariel, Gading, and Desta. Gading and Desta were out of breath and did not join the marathon. The ones who ran the marathon were Ariel and I in Chicago (United States),’ Raffi stated during the press conference in Jakarta on Thursday. Raffi said he also brought his wife, Nagita Slavina, on the visit to the United States in October 2025. ‘After finishing in Chicago, because there was still free time, I also went to New York for a while. In New York, I promoted friends who have businesses there. There is one called Awang Kitchen, Indo Java,’ he said. He mentioned eating at Awang Kitchen, which was adjacent to the Blueray Cargo office. ‘The shop next door was called Blueray. They called me, ’Mas Raffi, Mas Ariel, Mas Gading, let’s take a photo with me’. So we took a photo in front of their shop,’ he said. At that time, a Blueray Cargo employee explained that their company could ship any goods from America to Indonesia. According to him, the employee attempted to offer Blueray Cargo’s services, but he could not directly refuse. ‘Well, it was impossible for me to say, ’oh no, I don’t want to ship through you’, of course I couldn’t say that. Amidst the crowd, I said, ‘oh yes, yes, yes, okay, later if there is a new mobile phone, I’ll send it over from here’. It was just that. Essentially, I was just making small talk,’ he explained. He insists there was no communication afterwards with anyone from Blueray Cargo. ‘I do not have their phone number, never received any shipments, do not even remember their name, and never ordered anything transactionally. It was merely polite conversation,’ he stressed. Previously, on 4 February 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Finance Ministry. On 5 June 2026, Raffi Ahmad’s name emerged in the trial regarding his visit to the Blueray Cargo office in the United States. On 8 June 2026, the KPK confirmed that Raffi Ahmad’s name had surfaced in the investigation, particularly concerning his activity of visiting the Blueray Cargo office to entrust or ship several electronic goods to Indonesia. ‘It is true, there is a fact that Mr RA (Raffi Ahmad) entrusted goods,’ said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK Achmad Taufik Husein at the KPK Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Monday (8/6/2026). ‘We did not develop it too far yesterday because it had not yet reached facts that strengthened the notion that it was part of the Blueray event handling immigration matters at the Customs Directorate General, so we did not issue a summons,’ Achmad added.
