Raffi Ahmad Denies Involvement in Blueray Cargo Import Case
Presidential Special Envoy for Youth and Arts, Raffi Ahmad, has denied any involvement in a case of alleged illegal importation that has implicated the company Blueray Cargo. He stressed that he only had his photograph taken in front of the shop while in the United States in 2025. “My name has been dragged into an unpleasant piece of news. In the past, I was often linked to money laundering and other things, but I was calm because it never happened. Now, because I have been entrusted as Special Envoy to the President, I feel the need to correct this untruth,” Raffi said during a press conference in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday. In a joint press conference with his lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea, Raffi explained that his meeting with Blueray personnel occurred by chance when he was visiting several businesses owned by Indonesian citizens in New York after participating in the Chicago Marathon in October 2025. He claimed he was visiting the restaurant Awang Kitchen and a shop called Indo Java to support Indonesian businesses in the United States. However, as he was about to leave the area, several people from Blueray asked him for a photograph. “When I was eating at Awang Kitchen and Indo Java, many Indonesians asked for photos. As we were leaving the premises, there was a shop called Blueray. They called me over for a photo,” Raffi stated. He added that Blueray personnel had offered delivery services for various items, including mobile phones. However, according to him, the conversation was brief and merely small talk. “They offered to send an iPhone for free. I said, don’t bother. If it’s free, I don’t want it. After that, there was no order and no further communication,” Raffi said. Hotman added, “He never ordered anything. This was just celebrity small talk with someone asking for a photo.” According to Hotman, Raffi’s name allegedly surfaced in the Blueray case due to internal company communications that were uncovered during the investigation. Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) mentioned that the name of celebrity and special presidential envoy Raffi Ahmad (RA) had emerged in trial facts involving the forwarding service company Blueray Cargo. The company is entangled in an alleged bribery case concerning goods importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Responding to this, Raffi insisted he had never conducted any transactions or received deliveries from the company and urged the public not to immediately believe unverified information.
