Raffi Ahmad Denies Involvement in Blueray Cargo Customs Bribery Case
Presidential Special Envoy for Youth and Arts Workers, Raffi Ahmad, has denied any involvement in the alleged bribery case surrounding illegal cargo imports at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The celebrity’s name surfaced during court proceedings for the Blueray Cargo case, which is being handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). In a press conference held in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6), Raffi Ahmad, accompanied by his lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea, clarified a photograph of him in front of the Blueray Cargo outlet in New York in October 2024. Raffi claimed his presence at the location was purely coincidental. “The legal fact is that Raffi never ordered an iPhone or laptop from Blueray. Raffi also does not know who Blueray is. He just happened to visit Awang Kitchen restaurant in America, which is located next to Blueray,” said Hotman Paris, as quoted from the Metro Hari Ini broadcast on Friday (12/6). Raffi Ahmad’s name first came under public scrutiny after appearing in a trial at the Corruption Court on Friday (5/6/2026). KPK public prosecutors were questioning witness Sri Pangestuti, a Customs Clearance Services Entrepreneur (PPJK), regarding the flow of luxury goods shipments from the United States. In her testimony, indications emerged of a request to ship goods, including laptops and iPhone 17s, linked to Raffi’s name. This is what investigators are probing further to determine the artist’s connection to the illegal import scheme. The Blueray Cargo case is a major scandal involving alleged bribes totalling Rp61.3 billion paid to individuals within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Three company executives have been named as defendants. In addition to cash, the defendants allegedly provided facilities and luxury goods worth Rp1.8 billion to smooth the process of importing goods into Indonesia. The KPK continues to examine trial facts to uncover all parties involved in the illegal cargo bribery network. Hotman Paris stressed that his client had no role whatsoever in Blueray Cargo’s operations. “Total nol. This means there is absolutely no connection or role of Raffi Ahmad in the Blueray Cargo sting operation to import goods into Indonesia,” he concluded.
