Raffi Ahmad Contacted Dasco and Cabinet Secretary After Being Implicated in Import Bribery Allegations, Mentions Special Envoy Role

Presidential Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers, Raffi Ahmad, admitted he had communicated with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad after his name was implicated in an alleged bribery case related to goods importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. He conveyed this during a press conference at Le Nusa Jakarta restaurant in South Jakarta on Thursday, 11 June 2026. “I have definitely communicated with the palace, with Mr Teddy, the Cabinet Secretary. I also spoke to the House leadership, Mr Dasco. What else should I do?” Raffi told reporters. At the time, Raffi was urged to find a competent lawyer who could assist with his problem, as he did not want the matter to be dragged into politics. “Just find a competent lawyer who can help with all this, and ask what the best steps are to clear my own name, my personal name, and we truly must not let this be dragged into politics, you know,” said Raffi. Raffi then consulted Hotman Paris and asked him to act as his lawyer. “Ultimately, whatever steps I take, I will consult with Bang Hotman. ‘Bang, what is the best thing for me to do, Bang?’ And I am also actually not a ruthless person. I rarely want to be like this,” Raffi revealed. “This is because now there is something I mentioned earlier, because of the trusted mandate as the President’s Special Envoy, if things are like this, I have to clear it. In the past, I had a lot of image-building, but now with something like this, I really have to speak up and set things straight. From the money laundering era until now, I have to clear everything,” Raffi continued.
