Radio Australia to Broadcast Special Programme on 17 August

Radio Australia intended to join in celebrating Indonesia’s independence proclamation day on 17 August by holding a special broadcast on that day. The programme included a speech by Mr Tamzil, the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia. Indonesian students in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide who were attending courses organised under the Colombo Plan were also given the opportunity to send congratulatory messages to their homeland. Afterwards, they were to play music with the assistance of their friends in Australia. This special programme was to begin at 17:30 Java time and could be heard on wavelengths of 31.09 and 41.55 metres, as announced by Radio Australia’s Overseas Service.
