Four large state-owned enterprises (BUMN) banks, namely PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI), and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN), have released their performance reports on credit disbursement for the first quarter of 2026.

Overall, all four red-plate banking entities successfully recorded solid double-digit annual or year-on-year credit growth.

This performance indicates that the banking intermediation function continues to operate optimally amid challenging economic dynamics. The four banks implemented different expansion strategies according to their respective main business focuses, ranging from corporate segments to micro-enterprises.

Bank Mandiri Records the Largest Volume

In terms of financing disbursement volume, Bank Mandiri holds the top position. As of the end of March 2026, the total credit successfully disbursed by Bank Mandiri reached Rp1,614.01 trillion. This achievement represents a growth rate of 17.4% year-on-year.

However, it should be noted that the current total credit was achieved due to the spin-off action from its subsidiary, Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BRIS), resulting in some changes.

Bank Mandiri’s credit expansion specifically focuses on promoting national real economic activities. This financing disbursement strategy prioritises productive-oriented sectors and labour-intensive industries that absorb a large number of workers.

BRI Maintains Growth Through UMKM Segment

Following in second place, Bank Rakyat Indonesia reported total credit disbursement of Rp1,562.45 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. This financing disbursement achievement recorded an increase rate of 13.7% year-on-year.

BRI’s consistent credit growth continues to be supported by the micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) segment. This segment plays a crucial role and remains the company’s core business line in realising its commitment to supporting the resilience of the real sector and the people’s economy as a whole.

BNI Leads in Growth Percentage

Meanwhile, Bank Negara Indonesia recorded the highest growth percentage rate compared to the other two banks. BNI’s total credit disbursed in the first quarter of 2026 accumulated to Rp919.32 trillion, showing accelerated growth of 20.1% year-on-year.

BNI’s increased credit disbursement is supported by balanced growth in disbursements. This healthy financing growth is evident in parallel across both the business banking side serving corporates and consumer retail financing.

BTN Focuses on Boosting the Housing Sector

Completing the lineup of BUMN banks, Bank Tabungan Negara recorded total credit disbursement of Rp400.63 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. This achievement recorded an increase of 10.3% year-on-year.

This positive performance is driven by the subsidised mortgage (KPR Subsidi) segment, which reached Rp193.55 trillion or up 7.7% year-on-year, as well as non-subsidised mortgages of Rp112.56 trillion, up 5.4% year-on-year.

BTN’s focus on the housing sector is seen to provide significant multiplier effects for the economy, both in terms of job absorption and the use of local products.
