This was expressed by him at the Quiz Competition (LCC) on the Four Pillars of the MPR RI in DI Yogyakarta Province today. In front of dozens of senior high school students and their accompanying teachers from across DI Yogyakarta Province, he also urged Generation Z students to use the quiz competition to better understand the Four Pillars of the MPR RI.
“Also by always studying, emulating, and continuing the struggles inherited and exemplified by the figures of the Indonesian nation. Including the struggles, exemplary conduct, and sacrifices of Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX. Among other things, the sincerity of Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX in fighting for Indonesia’s independence, even willing to sacrifice by joining to ensure the existence of the Independent Republic of Indonesia,” said HNW in his statement on Saturday (11/4/2026).
Not only joining the Unitary Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX is also recorded as providing assistance to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in the form of 6.5 million Golden guilders, equivalent to Rp650 billion.
“So that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia could use that money to print Republic of Indonesia currency and finance operations for the newly independent Indonesian state. So that this independent Indonesia can truly exist and be authoritative. We who are in the 21st century, including Gen Z, the student participants in the quiz competition, as well as the millennial generation, and even the future Generation Alpha, must not forget the history of where we stand today,” he said.
“Even through this quiz method, so that they become more diligent in studying, more understanding, so as to love Indonesia more by continuing the struggles of the national heroes who have bequeathed Pancasila, the 1945 UUD NRI, the NKRI, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. As positive provisions to welcome Golden Indonesia 2045,” he added.
