Queue for Halalbihalal at the Palace Stretches to 60 Metres, Residents Arrive from Morning

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The queue of residents wishing to attend President Prabowo Subianto’s halalbihalal stretched to around 60 metres in front of the Majapahit Gate, Presidential Palace Complex, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026). Kompas.com observations showed residents queuing under white-and-green tents while standing. Residents arriving from various areas in Jabodetabek consisted of young people, mothers, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Residents also appeared to be queuing while jostling. “Sir, madam, don’t push. Don’t push. There are small children, be careful, sir and madam, don’t,” said an official over the loudspeaker in a loud tone. “Once again, don’t push, everyone will get a turn later!” said the official even more loudly. One resident from Bogor, Hardi (30), said he had been queuing since 07:00 WIB. He rushed to complete his Eid prayer at Istiqlal Mosque to queue in front of the Majapahit Gate. However, he was somewhat disappointed because the palace gate would only open at 13:00 WIB. “There is air conditioning and fans inside. Unfortunately, this year we wait outside. Only later will the gate be opened,” he added. The resident queue on Saturday also caused one resident to become exhausted and nearly faint. The female resident was eventually taken by health officials to the front of the queue. According to eyewitness accounts, the female resident was immediately assisted by officials.
