Questioned by AGO about Riza Chalid? Sudirman Said Answers

Former Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said was re-examined by the Attorney General’s Office as a witness in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of crude oil and finished products at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited. He stated he was questioned about procurement and oil pricing policies.

Sudirman initially explained that he was examined in his capacity as a former senior official at Pertamina and as Energy Minister. He said he had explained the policies regarding oil price determination.

“The information I provided is what I know, what I worked on, what I experienced, and my policies both at Pertamina and at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. As for who the suspects are, that is a matter for law enforcement, I do not speak about that,” Sudirman said at the AGO on Friday.

When asked whether AGO investigators also questioned him about Riza Chalid, who is one of the suspects in the oil governance corruption case, Sudirman replied: “Not specifically, but they asked about procurement practices and also policies regarding price determination and so on.”

Sudirman merely noted that the name Riza has been well-known for a long time. He mentioned that Riza’s name did not just emerge during his tenure as minister. “That name has been famous for a long time, until now, not because of my time,” he said.

This marks the third time Sudirman Said has been examined in connection with this case. He was previously questioned on Tuesday and Monday earlier in the year.

The AGO is currently investigating the alleged corruption case in the procurement of crude oil and finished products by Pertamina Energy Trading Limited. The AGO has named seven people as suspects in the case.
