Quality of leaders

Quality of leaders

From Media Indonesia

The article in Media Indonesia (June 28, 1995) containing the main ideas of the Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas), Let. Gen. Moetojib, presented at the House of Representatives has prompted me to make some comments.

According to him, there are good leaders and bad leaders. He further said that the future leaders are expected to come from Lemhannas.

I hope he was not exaggerating. It is true that Lemhannas graduates have greater chances to be picked up as ministers. But, I think we all agree that a minister should be more than a Lemhannas graduate. It is much more important for a minister to have a thorough knowledge of the job, whether he/she is a Lemhannas graduate or not. Also a minister or a leader should have a moral obligation to take care of the people's interests.
