Quality of education system doubtful

Thousands of high school (SMU) and vocational high school
(SMK) students will be retaking the national final exams early
next month.

Those retaking the exams in July comprise 10 percent of 13,363
SMU students and 16.8 percent of 8,000 SMK students in Tangerang
regency, Banten (Tempo Interaktif, June 15).

That thousands of students failed the exam the first time
around is not a normal phenomenon, and is further proof that the
quality of our education system is questionable.

In this case, it is more likely that the teachers in charge
are at fault, rather than the students. Therefore, the time has
come to change our education system, especially with the
replacement of the minister concerned.
