Qualcomm system certified

JAKARTA (JP): Qualcomm Incorporated, pioneer and developer of
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology, announced
Wednesday it had been awarded with type approval and quality
certification for its IS-95 CDMA system in Indonesia.

The company said in a statement that it was the first CDMA
vendor to receive the certification from telecommunications
provider PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) and the Directorate
General of Post and Telecommunications of the Ministry of
Communications.

Established in October 1997, the company has been actively
involved in Telkom's research and development division to
increase telecommunication technology. (aly)
