Qualcomm reportedly plans to raise processor prices
Technology company Qualcomm plans to increase the prices of its processors later this summer, according to a Bloomberg report cited by Engadget on Saturday (25/7). The US-based multinational has reportedly sent letters to its customers informing them of the planned price changes for its products. Qualcomm intends to implement the new, higher prices after 1 September 2026. The company reportedly told its clients that it can no longer absorb the higher component costs from its suppliers. Qualcomm’s chips are largely manufactured by TSMC, which is currently experiencing supply chain constraints. Like many in the technology industry, the company is feeling the impact of memory and component shortages caused by massive demand for artificial intelligence data centre construction. According to the Bloomberg report, Qualcomm’s sales have declined this year because its clients cannot produce as many devices as expected due to component shortages. Despite this, the company still posted revenue above expectations for the second quarter of 2026. Qualcomm is one of the world’s major smartphone processor manufacturers and dominates the Android market. Its processors power devices including Samsung’s Galaxy series, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8, as well as Microsoft’s CoPilot+ PCs.
