Quake jolts Aceh, no casualties

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: An earthquake registering 5.2 on the Richter
scale hit Aceh at 12:46 p.m. on Monday. It was the second large
earthquake to hit the region this month, Syahnan, an official at
the geophysics station said.

The 10-second quake affected the North Aceh, but its epicenter
was reportedly located in West Aceh and 33 kilometers below the
earth's surface.

According to Antara, there were no casualties or damage
reported in Monday's earthquake, but the tremors were felt
throughout the regency.

On Feb. 5, the province was rocked by an earthquake measuring
5.3 on the Richter scale. It was centered in the Singkil
district, 520 kilometers southwest of Aceh.
