The nominal value of transactions using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in Solo Raya reached Rp11.62 trillion by the end of June 2026. This figure represents a 113.9% growth compared to the same period last year, driven by the increasing adoption of digital payments among the public.

The Head of the Bank Indonesia (BI) Solo Representative, Dwiyanto Cahyo Sumirat, stated that the volume of QRIS transactions also experienced a significant surge, reaching 139,342,162 transactions, or a 168.4% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, the number of QRIS merchants in the Solo Raya region was recorded at 932,494.

According to Dwiyanto, QRIS transactions in Solo Raya are still dominated by merchants in Solo City. The share of merchants and transactions from Solo City accounted for 38.1% of the total transactions across the six regencies and one city within the Solo Raya area.

Amidst this growth, BI Solo has reminded business owners to keep their existing QRIS accounts active. This follows plans by several banks to close QRIS accounts that remain inactive for a certain period.

“The number of QRIS merchants may decrease because some banks intend to block QRIS accounts that have not been used for a specific duration,” said Dwiyanto Cahyo Sumirat, commonly known as Anto, during the Srambi (Bank Indonesia Media Forum) in Solo this weekend.

While he noted that the exact number of accounts to be deactivated is not yet known, BI is urging all merchants to use their QRIS accounts regularly to avoid being affected by the closing policies of the organising banks.

“We urge QRIS merchants to continue activating their accounts so they are not closed by the banking sector,” he added.

BI Solo believes that the growth in both the value and volume of QRIS transactions reflects the widening adoption of digital payment systems in Solo Raya. Consequently, the sustained use of QRIS accounts by merchants is considered vital to ensuring the continued growth of the cashless transaction ecosystem in the region.
