The QRIS Tap feature is providing convenience for public transport users in Jakarta. They find QRIS Tap more practical because it allows direct access to public transport using a mobile phone. This was acknowledged by Dwi Kusuma, a private sector worker who uses Trans Jakarta daily from Cawang station to his office in the Mampang area, South Jakarta. “It’s more practical because I can access Trans Jakarta via my mobile phone,” he told CNBC Indonesia at Cawang station on Monday (22/6/2026). According to him, using QRIS Tap is more practical because he can directly use the balance in the BRImo app owned by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, which he uses daily. Additionally, there is no need to worry about forgetting an electronic card, as transactions can be made directly using one’s own mobile phone. “Of course, if I use QRIS Tap, I’m not afraid of forgetting my electronic card or having insufficient balance,” he said. The presence of the QRIS Tap feature in the BRImo app is part of Bank BRI’s effort to continuously expand the ease of digital transactions to support the daily mobility of Jakarta’s residents. This initiative is directed at supporting practical and secure non-cash transactions on public transport services, such as Transjakarta. QRIS Tap In Tap Out is a digital payment system based on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that enables contactless transactions without the need to scan a QR code. Users simply bring their NFC-enabled phone close to the payment device, allowing transactions to take place more quickly and efficiently. Through this feature, QRIS Tap In Tap Out supports funding sources from bank accounts and credit cards, and is compatible with cross-bank transactions and digital wallets that have adopted the national QRIS standard. The development of this feature is part of BRI’s efforts to strengthen the integrated digital payment ecosystem. All these features reflect BRI’s readiness to respond to the mobility needs of a society increasingly reliant on digital transactions, including encouraging the use of public transport services. Going forward, BRI stated it will continue to innovate by delivering secure, relevant, and easily accessible digital financial solutions to support the daily activities of the public.
