JAKARTA - Customers of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk can now make QR Code-based payments through the Livin’ by Mandiri app while in South Korea.

SVP of Digital Retail Banking Group at Bank Mandiri, Yanto Masyap, explained that using this feature, customers can conduct transactions at various merchants in South Korea simply by scanning a QR code compliant with QRIS standards, without needing to exchange cash.

Customers only need to scan the QR Code at merchants bearing the SeoulPay logo, and the transaction can be completed in real-time.

“This innovation aims to provide convenience for customers in conducting transactions abroad,” he stated in a written release on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

This digital payment system can be used following Bank Indonesia’s (BI) expansion of QRIS acceptance and cross-border interconnection in South Korea.

“The presence of cross-border QR in South Korea also expands access to QRIS usage, allowing daily transaction needs such as dining and shopping to be carried out practically,” he added.

Yanto views the development of cross-border QRIS as a manifestation of integrated synergy between the financial industry and regulators in building a globally connected payment system.

This development also represents the ongoing competitive edge of Livin’ by Mandiri as a digital platform that continuously adapts to customer needs.

“Through the development of this feature, we aim to ensure that customers can transact more easily and comfortably in various international destinations,” he said.

On the other hand, QRIS adoption continues to rise. The number of users of the QR Pay feature reached 9.2 million, growing 23% annually, with transaction values increasing 43% to Rp38.9 trillion.

Meanwhile, the cross-border QR service shows more aggressive growth, with the number of users rising 23% annually to 13,000 and transaction values surging 52% annually to Rp37.4 billion.
