QRIS Becomes Unstoppable, Transactions Surge 82%

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that digital payment transaction volumes reached 5.50 billion transactions, growing 28.69% year-on-year (yoy) in July 2026.

Acting BI Governor Destry Damayanti said this growth was supported by the expansion of digital payment acceptance.

“Transaction volumes via internet and mobile applications grew 9.39% (yoy) and 24.25% (yoy) respectively, including QRIS transactions which continued to grow strongly at 82.42% (yoy), supported by an increase in the number of users and merchants,” Destry said at a BI press conference on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

In terms of infrastructure, retail transaction volumes through BI-FAST reached 546 million transactions, growing 31.62% (yoy) with a transaction value of Rp1,355 trillion.

Meanwhile, large-value transaction volumes through BI-RTGS were recorded at 0.99 million transactions, growing 3.12% (yoy), with the nominal value of BI-RTGS transactions growing 1.54% (yoy) to reach Rp20,097 trillion.

As for Rupiah currency management, BI also recorded that currency in circulation (UYD) grew 15.10% (yoy) to Rp1,314 trillion. With this record, Bank Indonesia affirmed that it will continue to maintain the availability of Rupiah currency in sufficient quantities with quality fit for circulation throughout the entire territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), including the frontier, outermost, and remote (3T) regions.
