The use of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) continues to show a positive trend. During the Kupang Digital Fest 2026 held on 10-11 July 2026, 9,870 QRIS transactions were recorded through digital game booths alone, whilst transactions at the MSME bazaar reached Rp157 million. The event, organised by the Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPwBI) for NTT Province together with the NTT Provincial Government and the Kupang City Government, was an effort to expand the use of QRIS, increase digital transaction literacy, and accelerate the digital economy in NTT. NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena appreciated the holding of Kupang Digital Fest 2026. According to him, QRIS has become a game changer capable of driving regional economic growth through a faster, easier, and safer payment system. Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for NTT Province, Didiet Aditya Budi Prabowo, said that digital transformation depends not only on technology, but also on public trust and understanding. Therefore, the event was also filled with QRIS education, consumer protection, and the Cinta Bangga Paham Rupiah campaign. Various interactive activities were held to introduce digital transactions to the public, ranging from transaction games using QRIS worth Rp1, an MSME bazaar, the QRIS Taputar Championship, to discussions on digital payment transformation and cyber security. At the closing of the event, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for NTT Province, Rio Khasananda, emphasised that the success of Kupang Digital Fest is not only measured by the number of participants, but also by the increasingly widespread use of QRIS in the community and the growing number of MSMEs accepting digital payments. As part of expanding the digital payment ecosystem, Bank Indonesia together with the Kupang City Government also launched QRIS Parking in 10 parking points across the city. This step is expected to further facilitate non-cash transactions for the public whilst accelerating the digitalisation of public services in NTT.
