JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police have arrested a person who pasted QR code stickers promoting online gambling (judol) in Petukangan Selatan, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (10 February 2026). The Pesanggrahan Police Chief, Comr. Seala Syah Alam, said investigators are developing the case and are pursuing two other perpetrators. ‘After the barcode was pasted on a warteg and a motorcycle, we secured one offender; the other two have been placed on the DPO (wanted list),’ Seala said at a press conference on Thursday (5 March 2026). He acted as the executor who pasted hundreds of judol QR code stickers at various locations across Jakarta. ‘Preliminary confessions indicate more than one hundred QR codes were disseminated. Therefore we ask the public to be cautious,’ Seala added. According to police investigations, the judol site linked to the QR code uses internet connectivity from mainland China. The QR code not only directs users to the judol site but also harvests personal data, including funds stored in the phone’s wallet. ‘Thus personal data is transferred directly. Because this is a scam that may access the online gambling site, deposits are automatically made,’ Seala explained. Seala added the sticker was obtained by a P from a supplier with the initial A, printed by F, another person who joined P in applying the stickers. ‘They were lured by money. The pay-per-barcode amount is Rp 100,000 (one hundred thousand rupiah),’ Seala said. Investigators are still pursuing F and A, who had fled earlier. Seala said A’s whereabouts are traced to Kalimantan. Meanwhile P is charged under Article 426(1)(B) of the Indonesian Penal Code No. 1 of 2023 on online gambling. He faces up to 9 years in prison or fines up to Rp 2 billion. It had been previously reported that a viral video showed a man pasting QR stickers leading users to online gambling sites in Petukangan Selatan, Pesanggrahan.
