Qodari states public opinion surveys serve as government evaluation material

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Government Communications Agency, Muhammad Qodari, stated that the government uses the results of public opinion surveys as material for policy evaluation while encouraging more detailed research to be conducted.

Responding to the results of the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey on Friday, Qodari said the government appreciates all survey results as part of the democratic mechanism and as input in the policy-making process.

“Yes, of course, we continue to conduct evaluations. And that is indeed what the President does,” he said.

Previously, SMRC survey results noted that the public satisfaction level regarding President Prabowo’s performance fell to 51.1 per cent in July 2026 from 81.2 per cent in November 2025.

According to Qodari, the government conducts evaluations across various aspects, ranging from governance and law enforcement to public opinion. He believes that survey results would be more beneficial if they could explain in greater detail the factors influencing changes in public perception.

As an example, he noted, economic aspects could be broken down into more specific indicators such as the price of basic necessities, employment, the rupiah exchange rate, and assessments of government programmes.

Qodari emphasised that he does not dispute the survey results. On the contrary, he hopes that similar research can be prepared more deeply to provide greater benefits to both the government and the public. According to him, presenting more detailed indicators would also help the public understand the factors affecting the level of satisfaction with government performance.
