Qodari Reshuffled to Head Bakom: President Sees Accumulation of Experience

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Muhammad Qodari has become one of the names affected by the reshuffle by President Prabowo Subianto. Qodari, who was previously Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), has now been appointed as Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) RI. He believes that Prabowo appointed him as Head of Bakom RI due to his experience and capacity during his tenure at KSP. Qodari recounted that before joining the Merah Putih Cabinet, he was always outside the government. During that time, this gave him experiences that served as lessons for him in communication. “When it comes to KSP, its duties are one: to control priority programmes. Then the second is to manage strategic issues,” said Qodari. “At that time, there was a task from the President, namely to assist the communication process,” he continued. He is convinced that Prabowo saw his capacity and experience before appointing him as Head of Bakom RI, replacing Angga Raka Prabowo. “I see the accumulation of that process which may have led the President to give this new assignment as Head of the Communication Agency,” said Qodari. According to him, in the past, communication or information delivery was usually done through official mass media. In the current era, communication and information can be done through social media (medsos). “We are now living in a very different era from 10-20 years ago. Communication in this current era is not like 10-20 years ago, where information, especially development information, was all through official mass media. Now there is also social media. News and information are just a thumb away,” said Qodari, at the handover ceremony at the Bakom RI Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (27/4/2026). “Indeed, we must actively communicate because if we stay silent, information will keep coming to us. So we must balance it, provide perspectives and views,” said Qodari.
