Qodari: President Ready to Inaugurate 21 Type C Regional General Hospitals in May 2026
Jakarta - The Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI), Muhammad Qodari, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is ready to inaugurate 21 Type C Regional General Hospitals (RSUD) in May 2026 as part of the Quick Best Results Programme (PHTC) to improve the quality of regional hospitals.
Qodari said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that the 21 RSUDs are part of a total of 32 RSUDs currently underway in three implementation batches.
“Out of the total 32 RSUDs, 21 hospitals are ready to be inaugurated by the President, planned for May 2026,” Qodari said.
He explained that the 21 RSUDs have been equipped with seven basic specialist doctors, namely paediatricians, surgeons, anaesthetists, internists, obstetricians and gynaecologists, radiologists, and clinical pathologists, so that people in the regions no longer need to travel far just to get specialist services.
Qodari described the PHTC programme for improving RSUD quality as President Prabowo’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services throughout the corners of Indonesia, especially in underdeveloped, border, and island areas (DTPK).
The programme, he said, focuses on upgrading hospital classes from Type D and Type D Pratama to quality Type C by providing facilities such as operating rooms, outpatient services, inpatient wards, cath labs, haemodialysis, radiology, pharmacies, and Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).
“This is part of President Prabowo’s grand vision that every Indonesian citizen, wherever they are, has the right to equal and quality healthcare services,” he said.
Furthermore, Qodari noted that over the period from 2025 to 2027, the government targets upgrading 66 RSUDs from Type D and Type D Pratama to quality Type C.
A total of 22 RSUDs are targeted for 2025, with 17 already completed and five others still in the completion process with progress above 90 per cent.
Then, 20 RSUDs are targeted for 2026, which are currently under implementation, and 24 RSUDs in 2027, which are still in the preparation stage.
As of 20 April 2026, all 10 RSUDs in batch 1 for the 2025 target have reached 100 per cent construction. In batch 2, six RSUDs have been completed at 100 per cent. Meanwhile, the other five are in the final completion stage. As for batch 3, 10 RSUDs are still in active construction.
“I need to state openly that one RSUD, namely in East Kolaka Regency, cannot yet be inaugurated due to on-site construction challenges. However, the process continues and is currently entering contract stage 3 and is being closely monitored,” he said.
Qodari continued that the programme provides socio-economic impacts, including reducing the risk of death due to delayed medical treatment in remote areas and creating jobs because each operating Type C RSUD requires an average of 300 to 500 permanent health and non-health personnel.
“This means that when these 66 Type C RSUDs are completed and operational by 2027, the programme has the potential to absorb nearly 20,000 to 33,000 direct jobs for the community,” Qodari said.
In addition, transportation costs for patients from DTPK areas who must be referred to major hospitals can be significantly reduced because quality RSUDs are now available near their homes.
“The PHTC Programme for Improving RSUD Quality is real proof that the government is present and acting, not just promising. Behind every hospital that is completed, there is a community that finally gets their basic right to decent and dignified healthcare services,” Qodari stated.
