Qodari: Meeting Between Prabowo and Megawati Reflects Pancasila as a Unifier of the Nation
The Head of the Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, believes that the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, during the 2026 Pancasila Day commemorations, is a real reflection of the spirit of unity that lies at the core of Pancasila values.
According to Qodari, this moment of togetherness, attended by several national figures, aligns with this year’s Pancasila Day theme: ‘Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation and the Foundation of World Peace.’ The occasion demonstrates that political differences do not hinder a shared commitment to upholding Pancasila and strengthening national unity.
‘It is a manifestation of the 2026 Pancasila Day theme: Pancasila as the unifier of the nation and the foundation of world peace,’ Qodari stated in a press release on Tuesday.
He explained that the relationship between President Prabowo and Megawati has a long history within the national political journey. Although they have occupied different positions within political dynamics, both maintain a shared commitment to preserving national values.
‘Furthermore, President Prabowo and Mrs Megawati share a long history. There have been times when they were allies and times when they were competitors, yet they remain united in safeguarding Pancasila and the unity of the nation,’ he said.
Addressing various speculations regarding potential political agendas behind the closeness of these two figures, Qodari asserted that, to his knowledge, there is no specific political agenda underlying the meeting. ‘As far as I know, there is none. Each is performing their respective duties and roles,’ he insisted.
Qodari noted that President Prabowo is currently focused on fulfilling his governmental mandate through various development programmes aimed at improving public welfare. Meanwhile, Megawati and the PDI Perjuangan continue to carry out their political roles from outside the government.
‘President Prabowo, as the head of government, is focused on executing development programmes and protecting and advancing general welfare. Conversely, Mrs Megawati and the PDIP have chosen to remain outside the government,’ he concluded.
According to Qodari, the spirit demonstrated by these national leaders during the Pancasila Day momentum serves as an important message that differing political views do not impede a collective commitment to maintaining national unity, strengthening democracy, and overseeing Indonesia’s progress.
