The Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that his agency is currently under attack due to the circulation of ‘anonymous letters’. Qodari asserted that he is not intimidated and intends to fight back against these claims.

“Currently, Bakom is in a position of being under attack. Anonymous letters are circulating in a modern form, specifically through posts on anonymous social media accounts. I call them anonymous because I do not know who is behind them,” Qodari said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

The ‘anonymous letters’ referred to by Qodari involve social media posts and narratives designed to corner Bakom and its deputies. Due to the changing times, Qodari views these negative social media narratives as the modern equivalent of ‘anonymous letters’.

“Now they use social media posts, but the essence remains that of an anonymous letter,” he remarked.

According to Qodras, these attacks stem from the fears of oligarchs, foreign powers, and ‘londo ireng’ (foreign interests) who fear that Bakom, under his leadership, will grow too large to be challenged. Qodari believes the perpetrators are attempting to prevent Bakom from evolving from a small vessel into an ‘aircraft carrier’.

“They are attempting to intercept and condition the national leadership so that they do not grant Bakom the trust to become an aircraft carrier after starting as a frigate. This is their way of winning the battle of narratives,” he said.

Qodari noted that the attacks have targeted Bakom deputies Timothy Ivan and Fatpahdepi. He added that the agency had predicted similar attacks would target two other deputies, Ulta Levenia and Kurnia Ramadhan, eventually culminating in an attack on himself as the Head of Bakom.

Denying Allegations Against Bakom

In his explanation, Qodari provided evidence to refute the inaccuracies within these ‘anonymous letters’. Firstly, he denied the narrative that Fatpahdepi had recruited 30 individuals from a specific political party into Bakom.

“First, the claim that Deputy 1, Fatpahdepi, recruited 30 people from PAN (National Mandate Party) is clearly false, as Bakom currently only has the budget to add 15 more people,” he explained.

Qodari, who joined Bakom a few months ago, stated that the agency could only expand by 15 people, which must be distributed across four deputy offices. “Deputy 1, led by Mr Fat, has only added 4 people so far. Where did the number 30 come from? It is impossible,” he said.

Furthermore, he refuted allegations against Timothy Ivan regarding a media budget allocation of Rp 60 billion. According to Qodari, there is no such personal media budget for any Bakom official.

“Media expenditure is an institutional expense that follows specific budgeting and procurement mechanisms; it is not the personal requirement of an official. Every institutional expenditure must be transparent and accountable,” Qodari stated.

Additionally, he denied the narrative that Timothy is involved in legal issues with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Qodari emphasised that Timothy has no connection to the legal case involving his uncle.

“Third, the anonymous letter claiming Deputy 2, Timothy Ivan, is facing legal issues with the KPK is untrue. The truth is, Ifan only served as a witness in his uncle’s bribery case and has no involvement in the bribery itself,” he said.

Qodari concluded that these ‘anonymous letters’ represent an attempt at sabotage against the government, both now and in the future. He stated he would not be intimidated and would resist such efforts.

“For the sake of the Prabowo-Gibran administration and the nation’s transformation, I declare that I am not afraid and will fight all such sabotage attempts. I repeat, I am not afraid and will fight all such sabotage attempts,” he added.
