Qatar has called on the international community to pressure Israel into fulfilling its commitments under the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Doha blamed Tel Aviv for the delay in implementing the provisions of the deal’s second phase.

Qatar stated that Hamas, which has been at war with Israel since October 2023, has met all its obligations under the agreement. Qatar, alongside Egypt and Turkey, is a mediator in the negotiations.

“Israel has obligations that must be met under the ceasefire agreement,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari during a press conference in Doha. “The mediators continue their efforts to expedite the implementation of the second phase of the agreement. The security aspect is crucial in this regard.”

“While Hamas has fulfilled its obligations, the international community must pressure Israel to meet its own,” Ansari stated. He added that Hamas “has committed to doing everything expected of them according to the roadmap.”

“We call on the international community to pressure Israel to implement this agreement so that we can finally move towards the reconstruction of Gaza,” Ansari said.

This follows an announcement on Friday by US President Donald Trump and his Peace Council that a deal had been reached to implement the next stage of the Gaza ceasefire. The statement noted that Hamas had agreed to the deal, but Israel did not immediately announce its official stance.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally rejected the Gaza agreement during a meeting with the Peace Council’s chief envoy for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov. According to Israeli newspaper Hayom, Netanyahu stressed that Israel would not halt military attacks or withdraw its forces from positions in the Gaza Strip, despite these being provisions of the peace plan proposed by Trump.

“It is clear to the international community who is obstructing the implementation of this agreement. The full responsibility lies with Israel,” Ansari said. Regarding the recent intensification of Israeli attacks on Gaza, he stated they were “nothing but an attempt to thwart the implementation of the plan and obstruct a peaceful solution.”
