Doha (ANTARA) - Qatar’s Prime Minister (PM) has called on all parties to respond constructively to the ongoing mediation efforts aimed at reviving negotiations between the United States and Iran and achieving a lasting peace agreement.

According to a statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, the PM, who also serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, made these remarks during a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif.

The Qatari official reaffirmed his country’s support for efforts to resolve the crisis through diplomacy and thanked Pakistan and other mediators for helping to facilitate a ceasefire between the US and Iran.

The two sides also discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and Pakistan’s efforts to support de-escalation and strengthen regional security and stability, the statement said.

A temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran came into effect last month following weeks of escalating attacks that heightened concerns over regional stability, energy security, and shipping in the Gulf region.

Qatar, along with other regional and international partners, has repeatedly urged dialogue to prevent further escalation.
