Qatar states communication continues to bridge US-Iran differences
Doha (ANTARA) - Qatar stated on Tuesday (29/9) that meetings and communications aimed at bridging the differences between the United States and Iran are ongoing, with messages being exchanged between both parties to seek common ground for a peaceful settlement.
Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed al-Ansari, during a weekly press conference at the ministry, noted that several meetings and exchanges of messages have taken place in recent days, including meetings in New York.
“Current efforts are focused on building mutual understanding between the parties,” said al-Ansari.
He stated that Qatar will continue its mediation efforts by working to narrow the differences between Washington and Tehran, as well as facilitating communication between the two sides.
“Our role is to address various difficulties and strive to bridge the gap between the parties, and this is currently underway,” al-Ansari said.
He mentioned that various meetings are still being held and messages continue to be conveyed between the two sides.
Al-Ansari declined to disclose specific details regarding the current stage of the mediation efforts but emphasised that Qatar sees no alternative to a peaceful solution.
Qatar has continued its diplomatic efforts to restore negotiation channels between Washington and Tehran over recent months.
During several meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York last week, Qatari officials also discussed regional de-escalation and various efforts to create conditions conducive to dialogue.
