Qatar Says Indirect US-Iran Talks Achieve Positive Progress

Istanbul (ANTARA) - Qatar has stated that indirect meetings between United States and Iranian delegations in Doha on Wednesday have resulted in positive progress regarding various issues related to the recently agreed Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.

“Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan today concluded separate meetings with US and Iranian negotiators in Doha, with positive progress achieved on various issues related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, as a follow-up to the results of the Lake Lucerne Summit,” wrote the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al Ansari, via the social media platform X.

He noted that both parties have agreed to continue discussions in the near future, with the schedule for the next meeting to be determined as soon as possible following the funeral procession of the former Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei.

“Both sides have agreed to continue discussions in the coming period, with the next meeting scheduled as soon as possible after the funeral procession of the former Supreme Leader of Iran,” he added.

Ali Khamenei passed away during a joint attack by the United States and Israel against Iran on 28 February. The funeral ceremony for the former Supreme Leader of Iran is scheduled to take place on Friday.
