Qatar Says Indirect US-Iran Talks Achieve Positive Progress

Istanbul (ANTARA) - Qatar has stated that an indirect meeting between American and Iranian delegations in Doha on Wednesday resulted in positive progress in discussions on various issues relating to a memorandum of understanding recently agreed by both parties. “Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan today concluded separate meetings with American and Iranian negotiators in Doha, with positive progress achieved on various issues relating to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, as a follow-up to the outcomes of the Lake Lucerne Summit,” wrote Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al Ansari on the social media platform X. He said both parties agreed to continue discussions in the near future, with the schedule for the next meeting to be set as soon as possible after the funeral procession of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. “Both parties agreed to continue discussions in the coming period, with the next meeting scheduled as soon as possible after the funeral procession of Iran’s former Supreme Leader,” he added. Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint United States and Israeli attack on Iran on 28 February. The funeral ceremony for Iran’s former Supreme Leader is scheduled to take place on Friday.
