TEHRAN – Qatari mediators reportedly presented Iran with a new draft peace proposal on Sunday (25 October 2026), aimed at ending the war with the United States and Israel. According to a Reuters report on Wednesday (28 October 2026), Tehran is expected to respond to Qatar’s proposal by the end of this week.

The latest draft being considered by Iran sets out a seven-day timetable covering issues of concern to Tehran and Washington, with confidence-building steps for both sides to take each day. The timetable could begin as early as next week, and several countries would act as guarantors if an agreement is reached.

Qatar and Pakistan have led mediation efforts to end the war launched by the United States and Israel in February 2026. The conflict has disrupted global oil shipments and supplies, and has spread to parts of the wider Middle East.

A source cited by Reuters said there was concern during Sunday’s meeting between mediators and Iran that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might resume attacks on Iran while fighting to remain in power in Israel’s election. The previous Friday, US President Donald Trump had also repeatedly renewed his threats to attack Iran.
