Qatar Deputy PM Delivers Special Message from Emir to Prabowo
Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, arrived in Jakarta and met President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Monday, 1 June. During the meeting, a special message was conveyed from Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. President Prabowo welcomed the message and reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. The leaders also discussed follow-up measures on cooperation across various sectors. Previously, in April 2025, President Prabowo and the Emir witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) titled ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Dialogue between the Governments of Indonesia and Qatar.’ President Prabowo and Sheikh Saoud engaged in dialogue to promote more intensive collaboration in strategic areas, including international and regional politics, defence and security, counter-terrorism, economic cooperation—particularly trade and investment—cultural exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people ties. The meeting reflected both nations’ commitment to further enhancing their longstanding positive relations. Conducted in a constructive and respectful atmosphere, the dialogue forms part of ongoing efforts by Indonesia and Qatar to solidify their strategic partnership, benefiting both countries and contributing to regional stability and prosperity.
