Qatar Condemns Israel's Attack on Joint Gas Field with Iran

Doha - Qatar’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday (18/3) described Israel’s attack on their main gas field jointly managed with Iran as a “dangerous and irresponsible step.”"Israel’s targeting of facilities related to Iran’s South Pars field, an extension of Qatar’s North Field, is a dangerous and irresponsible step amid the current military escalation in the region," said spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, Majed Al-Ansari, on platform X.He warned that attacks on energy infrastructure constitute "a threat to global energy security, and the people in the region and its surroundings."Qatar’s Foreign Ministry urged conflicting parties to avoid attacks on vital infrastructure, exercise restraint, comply with international law, and take steps to de-escalate the regional crisis.Earlier that day, Tasnim news agency reported that Israel and the United States attacked energy facilities in the South Pars gas field, Iran’s largest. They also struck the Asaluyeh industrial zone, the site of gas processing.Fires were reported in Asaluyeh after storage tanks and processing facilities were hit by the attacks.
