Qatar Condemns Iranian Attack on Omani Port and Oil Tanker
Qatar has strongly condemned the Iranian attack targeting the commercial port of Duqm in the Sultanate of Oman. The attack is deemed to have violated the sovereignty of the Sultanate and is unacceptable.
“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Iranian attack targeting the commercial port of Duqm in the Sultanate of Oman and an oil tanker off its coast,” stated Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on X on Saturday, 1 March 2026.
Qatar characterises the action as targeting a nation that has played an active mediating role between Iran and the international community. Qatar affirmed its solidarity with Oman in preserving the Sultanate’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
“Qatar describes the attack as a violation of the Sultanate’s sovereignty, an unacceptable escalation, and a cowardly targeting of a nation that plays an active mediating role between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the international community to ease the crisis and promote constructive dialogue to resolve outstanding issues,” the ministry stated.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms Qatar’s full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman in all measures undertaken to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability,” it continued.
Previously, the United States and Israel launched an attack named Operation Epic Fury against Iran on Saturday, 28 February. The attack killed several senior Iranian figures, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as hundreds of other Iranian citizens.
Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes on Saturday, 28 February, and Sunday, 1 March. On Saturday, 28 February, Iran also launched attacks on Riyadh and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
