Qatar Claims to Have Thwarted Several Iranian Attacks
Qatar has claimed to have successfully intercepted several attacks launched by Iran against its territory. Explosions were heard across various cities, including Doha, and extending to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defence stated that their air defence systems were on high alert when the attacks occurred. The government also sent warnings to residents’ mobile phones instructing them to remain at home for safety reasons.
“Qatar’s State Ministry of Defence announced that, thanks to high levels of preparedness, security vigilance, and close coordination between relevant authorities, it has successfully intercepted and thwarted several attacks targeting the nation’s territory,” the ministry stated.
Blast sounds were reported across Qatar’s entire territory. In Doha, a series of explosions occurred at intervals of several minutes and were heard throughout the city.
The escalation also affected the United Arab Emirates. Several eyewitnesses in Abu Dhabi reported hearing multiple explosions at spaced intervals.
“There were several blasts, initially one, then five to ten minutes later several more, but they sounded muffled,” said an eyewitness living in Abu Dhabi.
Another witness reported that explosions continued with varying frequency. In Dubai, correspondents also reported blasts, with residents confirming the sounds.
“I live in the Jebel Ali area, and an explosion just occurred, and I saw and heard a rocket fall in the distance,” said an eyewitness.
The United Arab Emirates’ official news agency, Emirates News Agency (WAM), reported that several Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted within UAE territory.
