Qatar Airways opens Jakarta office
JAKARTA: Qatar Airways opened a representative office in
Jakarta on Thursday to boost the service it offers its customers
in this country.
"This creates a golden bridge linking people in Jakarta and
Doha and makes the relationship between two countries stronger,"
Minister of Culture and Tourism I Gede Ardika said during the
ceremony to inaugurate the office.
Qatar Airways has been operating three return flights from
Doha to Jakarta every week with a one-hour stopover in Kuala
Lumpur since December 2001.
Company chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker said the
airline's passengers had increased 31 percent in February of this
year compared to the same period last year.
"We are targeting a 40 percent increase in passenger numbers
as we increase our fleet from the current thirteen aircraft to
twenty-five by 2004," he said. -- JP
