Qanun Team Denies Corruption Funds Flowed into 35th NU Muktamar

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Qanun Asasi team of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muktamar has denied allegations that funds from suspected corruption within the Ministry of ATR/BPN flowed into the NU Muktamar, which was held at the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Tambakberas, Jombang, last August.

Speaking in Jakarta on Sunday, the Coordinator of the NU Qanun Asasi Regional Forum, Syamsudin M. Pay, stated that the narrative lacks any evidence connecting the legal case to the NU organisational forum.

“There is no basis for linking the sting operation (OTT) to the 35th NU Muktamar in Jombang,” he said.

According to him, the issue is illogical when linked to the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) sting operation regarding alleged corruption within the Ministry of ATR/BPN. The KPK operation took place on 14 September 2026, whereas the 35th NU Muktamar had already closed on 31 August 2026.
