Qantas to fly East Timor
CANBERRA, Australia (AP): Qantas Airways Ltd. will offer
regular flights between Australia and East Timor from next month,
Australia's largest carrier announced Friday.
The airline will conduct a daily round trip flight four days a
week between the northern Australian city of Darwin and East
Timor's capital of Dili from May 2, Qantas said.
The carrier said it will increase the service to two daily
flights, four days a week from July 31.
The flight takes just under two hours and will cost around
Australian dollars 400 (US$240) for a round trip ticket.
Qantas deputy chief executive Geoff Dixon said the services
responded to growing demand from Australian businesses seeking
travel to East Timor.
