Qantas Extends Flight Reductions Due to High Fuel Prices
Sydney (ANTARA) - Qantas Group announced on Friday (1/5) that its flagship airline and low-cost carrier Jetstar have extended service reductions for three months due to high fuel prices. In a statement, the company said that the 5% reduction in domestic capacity, initially set to affect Qantas and Jetstar services from May to June, has been extended for three months until the end of September. Additionally, the company stated that Qantas services from Sydney to Bengaluru, India, will be temporarily suspended from August until the end of October, and both Qantas and Jetstar have reduced flights to New Zealand. Aircraft will be redirected to serve more Qantas flights between Australia and Europe amid high demand. These changes will reduce international capacity across the Qantas Group by 2 percentage points for the three-month period until the end of September.
